I don't have any emperical test data to back it up, but I tend to assign "static" ip addresses for my devices by using the address reservation settings on my router, and I think it helps with connectivity issues.  I've only had to stop/restart wifi on my Tab 2 maybe twice since I've upgraded to L.  I also think certain router/device combinations work better than others...  I had a Netgear router that simply would not stay connected forcing me to restart every 15 minutes.  Swapped that out for a different brand (inexpensive Trendnet) and solved the problem.  Do you have another router you could try?

I have a BT Homehub 4 which is a dual band router, I have separated the 5ghz and 2.4ghz SSID's so I can pick and choose which WiFi I use, can't remember why now? Anyway if I use the 5ghz SSID I have numerous disconnections I don't have this issue if I use the 2.4ghz SSID.

Maybe the 5ghz on the TAB 2 is the issue here?

5Ghz is faster but everything has a downside, and the rub with 5 GHz is that the higher frequency signals are weaker than 2.4 GHz signals, and do not penetrate walls, ceilings or other obstructions as well as 2.4 GHz.  Unless you have gigabit internet service, you may find the 2.4 band is a better option and more than capable of exceeding conventional broadband service from your provider.

Hey Everyone! Thanks for the speedy replies! =)

Well i am almost 100% certain its NOT the router, since its not only my home network, but at work (i work in different places as well, tested at 3 different work locations and home) the same error is there.

But yeah i have a Buffalo router with DD-WRT firmware installed on it so i can pretty much control all i want. I've switched it to channel 13 (2472MHz) to have less interference since most standard setups use the lower channels, only one ap on chan 13 except mine. Its NG-mixed, Extension Channel is set to lower and Channel Width to Dynamic (20/40MHz). Never had any issues before, ZTE phone, Samsung, Sony z3 & another sony, all work perfect when tried.

So im pretty sure its the pad and the other ulephone i have that have some faulty stuff in them. But i could bring out another router and try, dont think it will make any difference to be honest =)

I am also having frustrating problems with Wi-Fi connectivity.

After hours of inactivity, opening the tablet shows a good connection to Wi-Fi, but no data transferred.

The only "fix" is to turn off Wi-Fi in settings, turn on, then connection is OK.

I have this issue with multiple AP's.

All are set to mixed 802.11 b/g.

Wilkis, out of curiousity do you have wifi power settings to turn off during sleep or to stay on?

I have my settings to turn off during sleep and when I wake the tablet wifi is obviosuly off, then icon displays and wifi starts and connects.  So is your wifi already on but just does not communicate?

I have read that there are some network bugs in 5.0.1, could be the issue.  I have been lucky and for most part network connection is good.

Regarding keepalive: haven't tried any of these, but there's a Wi-Fi Keep Alive app, and several apps that do network pings.

My observation is that during periods of non-use I still receive emails from two accounts with their attendant sound notifications.

The issue is when I pick up the tablet, I no longer have connectivity.

I know this doesn't make sense, but I have observed the no-data issue many times per day.
