Re: Lollipop update for Tab 2 A10-70F

Spoke to seven people at support, even spoke to supervisors and they bumped priority up but then they started telling me in order to get priority service I had to pay for it, tablet was 1 day old when the update trashed it, so took it back to store, got a refund and will never own any Lenovo product again, plus after reading all the posts here and not a peep from anyone from Lenovo!

Re: Lollipop update for Tab 2 A10-70F

I purchased the tablet yesterday, and then I went thru 5 updates, all to KitKat 4.4.4.

Lastly, I got one more update, this one to Lollipop.  It went without a hitch, but you're advised to launch it and then go do your shopping.  It's lengthy, and it includes a black screen that seems to do nothing for a few minutes, and another section that has a progress bar that gets stuck for several minutes at about 70%.  It's tempting to press the buttons, but don't.  Eventually it completes.

It's running quite nicely.

Now, go into settings under audio and you will notice Audio enhancements ear phone, Loudness and Surround sound are now gone and the Dolby sound does not replace these features, now sound levels atmax are less than half what they were under KK 4.4.

Battery life is now about half but for a real chuckle call support....if you can understand them using their 25 cent headphones!

The install was easy but once on the firmware won't let you revert back so you stuck withLenovo's clearly untested junk!

Listen support personals from lenovo,

The lollipop update for tab2 a10-70f is junk. Previously in KitKat i can double tap on the screen to both lock and unlock screen. Now only unlock is possible. No screen lock possible by using double tap. And what can I say about sound quality. Audio level is very low now. Dolby app is not working or something is wrong. So the audio level is so low that I need full volume to listen to anything. Please fix these issues.

Or give us a official way to roll back to KitKat.

thanks for messing up my tablet.

The people at Lenovo know they messed up, and that's why there's been no comment or reply from anyone at Lenovo. Nothing but the sound of crickets (which I can now barely hear since updating my tablet, lol). They could quite easily release the original KitKat firmware and allow us to load it onto our tablets using the microSD card. I don't understand why they do not do this. At any rate, the end of my return period on my brand new "downgraded" tablet (after the update) is coming up soon so it's going back. I'll have to find another tablet from another manufacturer and that's really a shame because this tablet was fantastic prior to Lollipop. I also don't see myself buying another Lenovo product in the future. Good luck to those that are unfortunate enough to be stuck with this tablet and don't have the luxury of returning it.

One way of getting Lenovo's attention was contact support and tell them the thing caught fire and you need to talk to their legal department, that got me right in when my previous Lenovo tablet did just that....worth a shot since Lenovo is simply not listening in this case either!

To Lenovo's credit they have been realising updates every month for this tablet. Give them time and wait for the next update. Majority of these issues are OS realated.

WiFi seems to be stable on the 5GHz band, try it as a temperory fix.

Having had update issues with many Android based products where you not only have the updates switched off, OTA files disabled or removed and update APK file disabled yet it still installs without the users permission, this Lenovo went so far as to update itself even after the modem and wireless were turned off, which means it is downloading itself without your permission behind your back.

The only solution to Android's back door snooping is to stay with Windows because with Windows you can turn updates off and they stay off and if you get a bad update you can remove it....no so in Android.

And still Lenovo stays silent.

Hey Justine, got my adapter today.

One problem though, it will not connect unless my wireless is on. That does not seem to give me any benefit. The Ethernet Settings recognizes the device when wireless is off, but no connection. Any ideas?

Dwflo,

Which adaptor did you buy? I didn't know you wanted Ethernet...
