M8 freezes in browser, screen won't respond, then all inputs roll

Intermittently, while reading articles or browsing websites in Chrome, the device locks up, it freezes. I can't slide a page to continue reading the article, the device recognizes no touch input from the screen.  Trying to slide the page up or down or otherwise affect the open tab, and often it's only a single tab, yields no result. Then, after a period of time maybe thirty seconds or a minute, all of the input I made suddenly gets reflected on the screen and I end up in some random location on that page.

 

This happens pretty much everyday now, unpredictable as to when.  This is when I am actively browsing in Chrome, and it does not depend on what website I'm viewing (the main other function I use this device for is Zoom meetings and I have no issue there give that Zoom does not require any touch input for the most part).  The device is fully up to date.  I'm not running multiple apps, usually only Chrome with nothing in the background, and there is essentially nothing stored on the device so there's plenty of memory.

 

This was a holiday gift so it's only a few weeks old. It's my second Lenovo tab, the first one lasted for more than 3 years and still operates properly even with chrome and many, many tabs open at once.

Try to check if there's an available update for the Chrome browser app.

Open/Launch the Google Play store then go to My games & apps section to see for updates.

 

You may also clear the Chrome browser apps' cache/data.

Go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps > look for Chrome (app) then select Clear data.

 

Also, see if the issue also happens when using other browsers aside from Chrome like Firefox or Opera Mini browser just to name a few.
