I don't know about the S5000 specifically, but most of Lenovo's Mediatek-based tablets can be rooted with either Framaroot or Kinga Root.

There is no problem with rooting s5000. Mine works perfectly.
Root with this APP: https://sites.google.com/site/xjellydroidz/Framaroot-1.9.0.apk?attredirects=0&d=1
Manual: http://www.jellydroid.com/2014/01/tutorial-root-lenovo-s5000/
Good luck

Are you on dalvik or ART? I just switched to ART, it rebooted but only took a normal boot time, I thought it had to reoptimize all the apps and take about 10 mins?
