At the risk of seeming a complete idiot, can someone confirm which is the latest most compatible rom to download and does it work with Netflix et al?

I think there's only one download link (khanning's original link).  I installed from there today and Netflix works fine.

For most users, the stock one (not the root one)  is more suitable. So they wont have the chance of screwing up things of their tablet.

Thanks Khanning. The ics stock rom that I installed still has non compatibility issues with google maps and other apps, some of which I sideloaded. However, you mention that ics aosp is complete with working google maps. Where can we get that? Is it the same link from the first page or is on xda etc? Excellent work and thanks. I am a newbie who is getting addicted to this :-)

Re: [ROM][ICS]Ideapad K1 Official Release

Hello all,  I had a couple issues with the SD card and I currently have the Khanning stock installed as I test out ICS on my K1. When I install the SD card, ICS shows that it is mounted but I have a hard time getting access to it. I can use the camera to save images to it, and I can find a couple of file managers (ES File Exporer wouldnt find it for some reason) that let me have access to it, however if I try to use apps such as apps2SD it just saves it to the local storage and wont find the mounted SD card. I have also tried app backup & Restore and get the same results of it going to the local storage. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I too am interested in the "ICS AOSP" and certainly the JB AOSP which is yet to come. So much so that I googled the acronym AOSP and learned that it stands for Android Open Source Project. I'll leave other neophytes to guess the meaning of the JB part:smileyhappy:

After several failed attempts (at least a half dozen) I finally got Khanning's rooted image to flash yesterday and I'm very happy with it. I even found a copy of Google Maps (v 6.5) that i was able to sideload successfully. Previously paid apps are loading without me getting charged anew so all is well, despite not being able to load Chrome. Given that I've read some reviews that indicate that even the finished version isn't really much more than a beta I'll be content to wait (BTW when I tried to d/l both Chrome and Firefox from the Play Store I got "This application is not compatible with your device". However, I was able to sideload the old Firefox apk from a backed up copy.

This experience has probably been the #1 experience for me in seeing the value and power of the open source community in action. However, one thing I'd like to see happen, and I would even volunteer to MAKE IT HAPPEN is the compilation of some kind of FAQ that could distill some or most of the information that is found in the 18 pages of this thread, as well as back in older postings elsewhere. I am sure that with a little more clear guidance in such a FAQ, there would be others like myself who, though I am by no means a "newbie", still have a little reservation about making a big change that is different from comparable software changes on a PC. As an example, some "fear" using the rooted version though it includes features not in the stock version. Why? Because "rooted" is a scary word but all it really means is that your device is open in the same way that your Windows PC is when you log in as administrator, or the way all Windows PCs were  in the days of Win 3.# and even 95/98 if I'm not mistaken. Basically, any user could make any changes without "root" privileges. But being rooted is NOT dangerous in and of itself. It is only dangerous if you go crazy making changes without being careful.

Anyway, this is my petition/request for the compilation of a detailed ICS Upgrade FAQ.
