Re: [ROM][ICS]Ideapad K1 Official Release

2012-08-01, 1:46 AM
I had to struggle with the hang at formatting partition 12 issue. I tried flashing under Win7 a half dozen times and Linux a couple or three. Finally got Kanning's rooted ROM to flash. No spoofing applied. Got incompatible with this device when trying to download Google Maps and Firefox, but later sideloaded both apps. Loaded Sygic and maps for all of New England, NY, PA, NJ, DEL, MD, and DC. Works great. I'm holding off on installing a lot of apps but rebuilding my backload of apks onto my micro SD card so I win't have as much work when the JB AOSP appears:-)

Just another question for the FAQ. How does one go about "spoofing" their K1 into making Playstore think it's a XOOM, or other device?
I know the answer is basically to edit a config file (name escapes me at the moment) and you must be rooted to access said config file.
Secondary question: What app would be used to perform this editing task? (Root explorer ans ES File Explorer have been mentioned but would those apps include editing function or do we need a plain txt editor?

I can tell you which file, but it won't do you much good as it still has a lot of incompatibilites. You're better off just flashing the new AOSP build with a working play store.

BTW everyone here is my FAQ guide on these forums. It also has the link for the new AOSP build.

You modify the build.prop (located into /system) file that you can acess all the time, but can only modify once rooted. You can do that with root explorer, es file explorer and almost any file manager app, since they all have built in text editor. Setting it to xoom make it compatible with a lot more games and apps than there are with the k1 build.prop

I'm seeing the same sort of thing. The external SD is accessible by going up to root and coming down again.....but the access is imperfect. I copied come files to it from my Windows PC...and I could not copy them back. I had to move them to the internal SD first...then copy them. Attempting to copy them from the external SD will see a folder created on the PC with the correct name, but it is empty. I did manage to copy a single file across...but no folders or anything inside folders. I also noted that the same folders were duplicated on the external SD. Documents and Documents. Downloads and Downloads...and so on. Looks quite flakey.

For the “K1_ICS_AOSP_Rooted_R1.zip” do you have to do the tip?

Tips

  • Boot into recovery by typing 'k1recovery' from a terminal app or adb

I guess that should be used only when you need to go to recovery.
