Re: [ROM][ICS]Ideapad K1 Official Release

2012-08-02, 8:51 AM

A couple of questions:

  1. If I wanted to stay with a Stock ICS update, does that mean that I cannot take advantage of the fixes of incompatibility by Cybie and others?
  2. Every time that a new APX update comes out, do I have to wipe my tablet in order to install it?
  3. Is there any way to back up my apps and files without rooting my tablet?\

Thanks all.

1. If I wanted to stay with a Stock ICS update, does that mean that I cannot take advantage of the fixes of incompatibility by Cybie and others?

Since 25 Jul, there are 3 versions of K1-ICS ROM:

1st: Lenovo official: Mark's K1-ICS ROM

2nd: Khanning's official+Gapps w/o root: Official+Gapps-root    Khanning's official+Gapps with root: Official+Gapps+root

3rd: Khanning's AOSP w/o root: AOSP-root   Khanning's AOSP+root: AOSP+root

If you want stock ics update, choose the 1st version but live with no Gapps.

2. Every time that a new APX update comes out, do I have to wipe my tablet in order to install it?

If you choose 1st or 2nd version, you will need to wipe tablet.

If you choose 3rd version, you can use cwm so no need to wipe clean.

3. Is there any way to back up my apps and files without rooting my tablet?

For apps, use AppBackupRestore app.

For files, move them to sd card.

For settings & configurations, pray to god.

Here is a quick fix for the hardware keys. Just flash the .zip file from recovery. Updated first post with more detailed booting into recovery instructions.
K1_keylayout_fix.zip

Sorry for posting here. Seems like I can not yet post in xda forum.

What does this actually fix? Do I have to download this file in the tablet in the download folder? And then proceed to update?

Thanks

Is this available without having to use a Third Party downloader?

DLP...

I was able to get the zipfile down using the tablet (I used Chrome or Firefox beta).  I did have to check a few of the links, but never had to use a downloader app.  It was clunky, but I did find a way to get it down, then moved it to the external SD card to install through recovery.

Did you get the keyboard update to install?  I can get to CWM and select "Install from sdcard" but how do I click it to activate this option? The k1 keyboard file is renamed "Update.zip" and is in the root of the sdcard. The Home button does not respond.

Thanks for any help

Here a goo.im mirror for the K1_keylayout_fix.zip

http://goo.im/devs/khanning/lenovo/k1/K1_keylayout_fix.zip

Just download and save to your EXTERNAL sdcard then:

1. Boot into recovery

2. Select "Install zip from sdcard"

3. Select "Choose zip from sdcard"

4. Select the K1_keylayout_fix.zip and flash

Nice work on the build.prop fix Cybie257. I tried those same changes but I suppose I didn't wait long enough for the change to take effect. I will include those changes along with the keylayout fix in the next update.

Hey Khanning, somewhat related question:

Now that you have the K1 ICS source, do you plan on continuing with CM9 at some point?

As always, thank you for all your work.

Thanks for all the work and the response.   I moved it to the sdcard2 and booted into recovery, but i still cannot select the option.  Is the proper "Select" button the "Home" button? or is there something else?

Thanks

Seeing as how the flash fixes the home button...

The button for select is the power button, IIRC.

The odd thing is the power button just moves the select to the top item and does not activate the selection.

Thanks
