Here a goo.im mirror for the K1_keylayout_fix.zip

http://goo.im/devs/khanning/lenovo/k1/K1_keylayout_fix.zip

Just download and save to your EXTERNAL sdcard then:

1. Boot into recovery

2. Select "Install zip from sdcard"

3. Select "Choose zip from sdcard"

4. Select the K1_keylayout_fix.zip and flash

Nice work on the build.prop fix Cybie257. I tried those same changes but I suppose I didn't wait long enough for the change to take effect. I will include those changes along with the keylayout fix in the next update.

I'm kinda confused here.

Step 1.  This is done with the USB cable plugged in and doing the Vol +/- power combination correct?

If yes, then how to get to step 2.

Hi Khanning,

Thanks for all you work on getting ICS to work on the K1.  I had a quick quesiton on using recover.  Another person has the same issue I see.  When I boot into recovery and try to install that zip file to correct the back and home buttons here is what I get.  I was hopig you could guide me in the right direction to fix this.

Thanks for everything!

Hey I tried booting into recovery using the terminal app and it worked sucessfully but weirdly once I'm in it I can't choose any command (using power button) because it tells me:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log

I should have noted I am using ICS AOSP 4.04

I still have not found a way to perform the keyboard update using CWM.

Thanks,

So, I'm having more issues with ICS than I did with HC, and I would like to go back to HC.

I cannot find it on the Drivers page.   Am I looking in the wrong place or has it even been posted yet?

Can anyone provide me with a link to the last version of HC?

Thanks.

Incorrect. Vol +/- power is APX mode and will always wipe everything on your tab. This is done via CWM recovery from the terminal app.

My Micro SD card failed which would explain why I had problems using recovery to do that update via the SD card.  I have ordered in a new card and will report back when I try to run the CM update again.

Thanks everyone!

As mentioned, this is done in CWM Recovery, not APX Recovery.

Use the aShell app (download from Play), run the app, select the checkbox for "Root" next to the textbox, then in the textbox, type "k1recovery", then hit the "Run Command" button.

Once in CWM Recovery, the Vol Up/Down buttons move the selector. Power steps back the menus/options "BackButton". The Hardware "Home" button (oval button) is what you use to "select" the option.

It seems that it might be confusing to some, but there is an APX recovery mode, and with khannings AOSP ROM, a CWM Recovery mode. You need to use the CMW recovery and you get into that by the above directions after the tablet is up and running. APX recovery is something you get running before the tablet is up and running. Does that help explain it better? It's early and still working on my cup of coffee :), so I hope this made snese of things. :-)

Thanks. yeah, there may not be as many changes necessary, but it does seem to take some time for any changes to take effect. The power down, wait a few minutes seemed to have a better effect that just rebooting.

I'll be sure to pass along any other changes I come across that make it work even better, if possible.
