Re: [ROM][JB][AOSP] Lenovo Ideapad K1

2012-09-22, 3:16 AM

hey! I just found this place. Before I was asking in an ICS page.

I want you to solve my problem. My K1 is running CM10. My home button is not working, so when i boot into recoery, I cant select. I was told to flash another recovery (made specially for non working home buttons) using terminal app. They told me they knew the steps for ICS, not for JB.

So, I had to write:

su

cd /sdcard

cat /dev/zero > /dev/block/mmcblk0p1

dd if=recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1

But that was for ICS, and for JB the word block was named diferent, and they didnt know how. Would you help me? Im 18 and I dont know much about this stuff.sorry for my english, Im not a native speaker.

Thanks!!

Try holding the "HOME" button while you boot into recovery.  When the recovery is up, release the "HOME" button and see if it is now working.

Thanks, that as incredibly helpful. Now Im have JB perfectly running.
I wanted to comment you something, specially to those like Kreg Hannings that know a lot how everything works... Do you know cornerstone by onskreen? It is mutitasking with multiscreen, like Galaxy Note 10, but for other tablets. The problem is that it has to be flashed with recovery, and a ROM has to be made. So my question is: would you try to do that?
Thanks,

Anyone know the best way to improve app compatibility using this ROM? I can not update the Accuweather nor install the Amazon Mobile apps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Are you using "Accuweather", or "Accuweather for Android"?  The former is compatible, but the latter isn't.  Also, the Amazon Mobile app has never been compatible with the K1, even when running stock HC (although why, I have no idea).

"Accuweather for Android" was compatible until the latest version of the app. I have it installed but can't update it...

Has there been any new releases of JB with fixes for the Wi-fi Signal Strength and others problems? I guess I don't understand where JB came from. We had to wait months for Lenovo to release Vanilla ICS so Kanning and friends could finish it. So where did JB come from? Is it just a modified version of the K1's ICS or is it copied and modified from some other tablet? I am waiting till next week before considering moving up from ICS. We bought our granddaughter a tablet for her birthday on Saturday. Then I can wipe mine of all her apps and start fresh. For some reason it has started to have that problem of not wanting to wake up some times so I think a full wipe may just cure it I hope.

@jasprs

Well over a year ago Google released the code for ICS and followed that up with a release of JB code. However, releasing the code doesn't make it work on all devices. That calls for more coding. khanning and others have the skills.  I suspect that once the official ICS release from Lenovo came out, there was enough information in there that khanning was able to put together the JB release that many of us are now enjoying. There is another JB ROM by krook1 that is available. I believe you'd get that from Cyanogenmod. Since the adaptation of the source code of ICS and JB is being done by volunteers we should be grateful to them for their work, but also to Google for releasing the source code, and Lenovo for releasing their unfinished customization of ICS.

Yeah, my understanding is that the ICS and JB code from AOSP (the Android Open Source Project) and CyanogenMod are more "generic" versions of Android, but they require device drivers for the specific hardware elements in the tablet, as well as interface definitions, which is what Lenovo provided in their ICS release.  This is why they couldn't do much until the Lenovo release, but also why they were able to come out with initial builds pretty quickly (albeit with a few minor "glitches").
