Thanks for the info guys and the quick response. I am not yet sure which version to try. The AOSP version or CM10. I may have to go back do some reading and see what sounds better.

Re: [ROM][JB][AOSP] Lenovo Ideapad K1

Hi everyone,

I got a K1 for my parents and I'm considering upgrading it to Jelly Bean and had two questions I wanted to ask

1 - is the video issue resolved yet? My parents will be using skype, so working video is important.

2 - is it possible to revert it to the stock HC build again after flashing it? It's still in warranty, so I'd like to be able to revert it if I needed/wanted to return it.

Thanks,

mrwomble

@mrwomble, what video issue are you referring to?  There is a known problem in this ROM regarding video effects on faces (creates distorted, funny faces), but that's not much of a limitation.

To restore back to stock, see the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560441

Thanks mclandytm, that's just what I was looking for.

Regarding the video distortion on faces - just how bad is it? Would it be enough to ruin a skype video call?

Sorry, I should have been clearer.  Apparently there is an Android function (on ICS+) that you can use to intentionally create funny face effects when shooting a video (here's an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJzFbhAPZ58 ), and that isn't working in this ROM.   It has nothing to do with normal Skype video.

Ah, thanks - that makes more sense!! I didn't know about that funny-faces feature. That explains why no-one was making much of a fuss about it!

By the way, I checked Skype last night, and it seems to work fine on this ROM.

I just noticed that krook has come out with a v5 of the CM10 Jelly Bean ROM, which includes the fix for external USB host support, plus a couple other new features like IP tunneling and Overclocking.  Hmmmmmm.  Time to switch?

Well, I decided to go for it. Now on CM10 Jelly Bean, and it's pretty complete!  The WiFi indicator and speeds are working correctly, GPS seems fine (although a little slow to lock the first time), attachment of flash drive (32GB) via USB Host Cable works, video all seems good, and generally snappy and smooth.  This is the Jelly Bean I was waiting for!  Great job, krook!!
