Recovery Mode: Is it possible to use Backup and Restore user data, from one device to another ?

Hello,

In my school we have a set of tablets Lenovo tab2 a8-50 for our students, but we have a problem with some of them.

To avoid to have to reinstall all apps and configuration after hard reset, we used the Recovery Mode to make a backup of user data of another tablet that works well to a microsd card. The idea is to restore this backup on another tablet with problem, as they are all same models and android version 5.1.

The backup process ends normaly with a message that shows that the backup completes successfully.

So we put the microsd card in a tablet with problem and try to restore the user data using the backup created, but we got all the time this error after a few second the restore process has begun :

   "Error: Checksum compare fail"

The sd card is new and apparenlty the backup files are not corrupted, but are not accepted by restore process.

But we don't know if it is a problem with the backup files or if it is not authorized to restore a backup from a tablet to another, even if they are exactly the same model and android configuration.

So could you please tell us if it is possible to Backup & Restore user data from a tablet to another one, or if there is some check during restore process that verify that the backup was done on another device and then stop the restore.

Based from what you have explained, the way you install the recovery media to tablet will not work. There are factors that you may need to consider as well. Even if the two tablet are the same, there is a chance that they have a different hardware components. You can try using the Lenovo Moto Assistant https://support.lenovo.com/in/en/solutions/ht501876?CID=ww:lenovosocial:20x9m6 to reload the Android OS on a defective tablet using a computer. However, if the Lenovo Moto assistant couldn't find the model of the tablet, you need to have the tablet service and flash the Android OS.
