Rookie Questions on K1

2011-10-11, 19:53 PM

I am getting my K1 in a week and have a couple of rookie questions.

1) If there is no USB port, how do you connect the tablet to the computer to transfer your MP3 files and other files?

2) Can you use a mouse and keyboard with the K1?  I assume it would be the bluetooth variety?

Thanks

Correct, the K1 does come with a USB cord, but does not have a USB port for you to connect a Keyboard, which is what I'm guessing they wanted to do. Yes, I would think a bluetooth keyboard would work. There are many stands that would hold it upright. There is also a keyboard dock for sale.

Your K1 should have come with the charger and a USB transfer cable in the box. The transfer cable has the proprietary connector for the tablet and the USB connection for your PC. When connected to your PC the K1 should show up in your file browser the same way as a removable drive. You can then copy your files that way.

I have not tried any external keyboards but I suspect Bluetooth keyboards should work on the K1.

Thanks for the reply...

I had read some people complaining the K1 did not have a USB port....

If you can connect to USB with a provided cable, I do not know what all the fuss is about.

Without having the K1 yet (should be getting it in about a week), the only other thing that worries me is all that I have read on this forum about the wake up problem and then the update software that looks to be a mess.

I can deal with some issues, but some of the things that I have read in the forum makes it sound like the K1 is somewhat unuseable.

There are apps that will allow you to move files to your tablet via wifi.

If you have a DLNA server, then you can use bubbleUPnP.

Or you can use wifi explorer and you can access your tablet's file system via http from the PC.

As for the issues, most of them have been alleviated/fixed already, and from the looks of the test ROMs they have in the pipeline, there's a healthy amount of development/support still going on.

Did anyone use that USB cable to connect to an USB power supply for charging? I notice the power adaptor comes with K1 is 1A.
