SD Card Saving Issues

2011-09-08, 11:34 AM
Why is there a file directory called "sdcard" on the internal memory? Every app that tries to save to sd saves to this directory and never makes it to my sdcard! The actual sd card directory is called external_sd and lives inside of the sdcard folder. How do i make sdcard actually be the sd card? Is anyone else having this issue? I learned this after resetting the tablet to factory and thinking all my apps were backed up on my sdcard and to find out that they were not.

Even when i unmount the sdcard in settings...this directory called "sdcard" is still there which further proves it is a internal system folder. Why???? Sdcard should mean sdcard! Seems like it is one thing after the next with this tablet. This is pronlematic because most apps will not let yo choose where to save files.

Yes, same here, on my Android mobile phone, from setting I can choose to move the app to the Sd card. But not so with this tablet, the 'button' grey out. No way to move. Wonder?

So basically, when i get an app like dolphin browser, and then add bookmarks to sd add-on, this app will just back up my links to an internal sd partition?  What is the purpose of having an external sd if you can route files to that drive automatically.

This defeats the purpose of the SD card with Android.  You will not be able to move apps to the SD card.  If you use any music service that writes song data to the sd card you are out of luck as well.

This is an issue that needs to be addressed as the function of the SD card with this tablet is for lack of a better word is useless.

Agreed, hopefully Lenovo is listening and will fix this in an upcoming update.

I have no experience with Smart Phones and/or Android. From your posting, am I to assume that currently the Micro SD card can't be used by anyone? If I am wrong, please refer me to a web site that might explain how this device is used. So far I have equated trying to install this tablet to a breech birth. .

Well it can be used but you have to manually move files to the sd card with a file manager unless the app allows you to set the directory manually. For example, if you tell you internet browser to cache to the sd card it caches to the internal sd and not to the external micro sd. Or when I use a file backup app and set it to back up files to the sd it picks the internal instead of the external.

I hate to be so dense, but where is the file manager that you refer to located? (Tablet or PC) Are there file manager android apps? On my PC, when I go to 'My Computer' the tablet isn't even listed so I assume that any PC file transferring has to go through LeTools and the syncing operation which ends up in main storage. I was hoping that I could copy all of my pictures on to the external Micro SD disk and save main storage.
