TAB 4 Plus ZA2M problem with update

My recently bought TAB 4 Plus 16 GB ZA2M work find except for one thing. When I check for System Updates, it pops up the System Update application, which shows the current version (TB-X704F_S000032_170517_ROW) and on the bottom the rotating icon before 'Checking for updates ...'. This can stand for 2 hours and still nothing happened. It looks as if the tablet does not get an answer back but WiFi connections work excellent (Chrome, store and so on). Downloading the PC Smart Assist program only gives an 'unknown device' after I went into Developers mode and checked USB debugging set to on.

 

Any ideas. It is a new product, but surely I am not the only one that has a TAB4 plus and this problem ??

When I click System Update in my Tab 4 (ZA2B0009US), the screen shows my current version and displays "Checking for updates..." with the graphic rotating at the bottom.

 

It ran all night last night, and still doesn't resolve.

I kind of agree with HenryZ, that it's a server issue, and they'll address it...whenever....

I'm experiencing the same on my Tab4 8 Plus and since other Lenovo tablets seem to have the same issue as well at the moment I'm very confident that the update servers from Lenovo are malfunctioning or offline.

It's certainly not very professional of Lenovo to just let this issue idle for quite a while now but what can you do, they don't seem to think its a big deal. I'm quite sure they will resolve the situation eventually though.

Thanks for the updates guys. Good to know that it is a 'common' problem and not something on my tab4 only. I'm sure as well that it is a server issue as the rest works just fine. Nevertheless, besides fixing this problem, they should update PC Smart Assist 3.0 as well to support newer models. The TAB4 plus is fairly new but my MOTO G4 is not recognized as well and thus can not use that methot of upgrading. OTA upgrades in Europe seem to take fairly long, so another method would have been nice.,

A new update rolled in today and after that was applied the app neatly showed the current version and reported that I was up to date. Case closed and problem solved !

Hello, yesterday I bought a
LENOVO Tab4 10 Plus TB-X704L ZA2R
and when I go to the "System Update" tab the screen shows my current version (TB-X704L_S000030_170522_ROW) and displays "Checking for updates..." with the graphic rotating at the bottom for less than a second, then displays "Please check for updates after connecting to a network".
It looks as if the tablet does not get an answer back but Wi-Fi connection works good.

How did you get the update that solved the issue for you?
Might this be related with the fact I am not able to sign in with me Lenovo ID?

Mine resolved itself. 

 

I'd wait a couple weeks and see if it resolves.

PS: Did you sign in with a Lenovo ID account on your tablet?

It took a few days for mine to resolve itself, so I was just suggesting that you wait a bit and see if that happens for you as well.

 

I believe that, in my case, the server that sends the update from Lenovo wasn't doing its job (although Lenovo denied this). Then one day, I checked for an update and it worked. There was no aparent reason for this on my end, so I assumed Lenovo had changed something in their system.

 

I know that it's working now, since I have received updates since then. In fact, I received one this morning.

 

 

I was not signed in to the tablet with a Lenovo ID.
