Re:Don't upgrade Tab M10 FHD Plus to Android 10 - problems.

2020-12-27, 1:14 AM

FeVerSeCtioN, don't mistake my lack of posting in this forum, does not mean I have not dealt with Lenovo before. I am now writing in a private capacity rather than a professional one.

I had to deal with Thinkpad issues back when Lenovo acquired them. Specifically, when you bought a computer (in this case several hundred) you buy the specs, not the components. Such was the case I had to deal with and it involved different drives and the way that NT worked with them. I had to track down the specific differences between the same model built as different factories and their supply chains. I also cited my issues with the Tab M10 Plus and and the Sierra card not working.

This is not to say that the problem is unique to Lenovo. Dell also had issues with different UARTs in the same desktops I had to suss out. Further, I made the call to stop release to manufacturing for a software product from Redmond that had bugs that the team hadn't identified for fix.

My main complaint is that Lenovo released the second update without addressing the issues created by the first.

At least in the case of Redmond today I KNOW where they are screwing up. A vast majority of their testing is being done on virtual machines, not physical hardware. This the reason I stress that it is Lenovo's own hardware. They KNOW their product and the fact that "2" releases have major issues tell me that they are NOT doing the necessary ingratiation testing that is required prior to release.

"about notifications, I see that if you lock apps from been killed, they stay and working. "

Please explain how to "lock" apps from being killed?

I downloaded and installed the update a day or two ago, and I'm sad to say that it fixed nothing. I'm still receiving no notifications for anything, not email, messenger,Skype, nothing. I guess the fix needs fixing.

I can't go into settings. It so seldom works after the update that I have no control of any functions. Settings crashes, chrome crashes, android systems crash, this tablet is now worthless!

I purchased mine through Amazon u.s. and have already asked if they would refund since I could get no response, satisfaction, or fix from the manufacturer and they were kind but said no. No point in even asking Lenovo again...

Please, Lenovo, revert all tablets affected back to Android 9.

@dsc1105  obviously coz the hardware is working as it should. No one cares if software doesn't work, it has no warranty. Tricky stuff. That's why we ought to be able to have an option of a downgrade via OTA to any stable version that's out there - which's currently Android 9. Lenovo ought to put it back so people could choose between 9 or 10 - useless crap.

to add, since the last update, after tablet restart, it seems to loose 3rd party (live) wallpaper both on wallpaper and lock screen

edit: false alarm, for some reason the 3rd party wallpaper moved installation to SD, moved back to internal and it seems to work ok

Hey! Why are you still silent?Do tell us what the team going to do next. Why still after update the issue is still unsolved? If your team can't solve issue in more 1 month, where your brand lie among other brands. If you can't manage to provide a good stable software, just compensate us with full return.
