Thx Wiznoodle, got it to work! Yes, now I can again use my tablet normally. Most annoying issue was display's dynamic dimming, what makes impossible to watch screen in dark condition. Couple of time tab have been asked to upgrade firmware, but I don't want to take a risk. I still run at TB-8704F_S000037 firmware.

Glad it worked out for you. You can turn off the auto update messages by turning on developer options and unchecking auto updates.

To turn on developer options: settings / about tablet / tap your build number 7 times.  Use the back button. Select developer options.

FYI: you can't turn them off once they're on.

Or you can just deactivate the app (System Update or something like that). ;-)

I downloaded a more recent and an older version of MiFlash (2015 and 2018) and they both show COM6. The only non working version is the 2016 you give! Smiley Very Happy I will try tomorrow, I don't have time to flash now but it's on better way! Thanks. (Several MiFlash versions here and other tools)

Re:Tab4 8 Problems with 8.1 Oreo update

Dear friend.

I have a TAB4 8 plus and I use the device for simple tasks. The device is in the best condition and does not even have any signs of use. Now that the guarantee is over and there are no more updates or patches, I tried to install a new ROM as described on this page: https://www.getdroidtips.com/lineage-os-17-lenovo-tab-4-8-plus/
Unfortunately something went completely wrong. The device no longer starts and when connected to the PC, only one device is shown in recovery mode, the driver is installed as qualcomm recovery Device, EDL mode. I've tried few things to reinstall the device with your description at least with Stock Rom, the main thing is that the device is running again. I am desperate, I brought some devices to new life and I thought that I could do a little bit of technology. it would be a shame if this almost new device degenerated into a useless piece of stone. Hence my request to the community: who can help? I also found and followed this page https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/224369/cannot-flash-qualcomm-with-stock-image-lenovo-tab-m10-tb-x605l-lte-android-8-O

... no success. I have to change something when installing the driver so that the ROM can actually installed on the device.

It would be graet getting this device running again and I would even pay for the help if requiered.

Thank you all again and hoping for your help soon

The Lenovo restore and rescue tool can now be used to flash the factory rom onto this tablet. Have you tried using it?
