Re:Tab4 8 Problems with 8.1 Oreo update

2020-11-15, 18:05 PM

Ok, so let me get some more information.... you unlocked the bootloader, installed twrp, did a data format, wipe, and then flashed Los17.  The tablet failed to boot.

Did you know longer have twrp?

You then tried to recover by trying to flash the factory image in EDL mode, using the qualcomm tool and lenovo rescue tool.

Your tablet is stuck in EDL mode.

The Lenovo rescue tool fails.

Qualcomm tool fails.

Is all that correct?

You say you have tried some stuff, but details are important, Have you tried flashing the stock image with miFlash? The qualcomm tool often fails but miFlash usually works.

Hi there.
Sure, until LOs began to boot and after the first questians about country and language the tablet went off! The batterie is full, but it turned off every time after booting. I have tried to flash the Stock Rom with TWRPs help, I think I tried fastboot over PC with newer TWRP... after this the tab didn't start in any known working mode. Only blinking as conected to PC and installing that driver as seen. I have red a lot about this device and tried other drivers as I found in other communities. I have tried MiFlash, QFil, Lenovo RSA and other drivers and com ports... I dont get it... MiFlash shows uploading but after 32 Minutes and more nothing happend...waiting for any device!

I upload all the screenshots what I made just right now trying again the flash procedure:

The error in the qualcomm tool simply means you have not placed the tablet in EDL mode.  You need to try again. Try using a different usb cable, or a different usb port on the PC/laptop. It can be tricky to get it into edl mode.

Re Twrp:

Presently do you have twrp installed on the tablet? And can you boot the tablet into twrp? You said you flashed the stock rom and it won't boot. Were did you get the zip file to use in twrp? Is it a backup you made yourself?

Re:Tab4 8 Problems with 8.1 Oreo update

Hi there.

The TWRP ist not installed... and if it is I cant boot to it. When I try any kind of boot, volume up and start is EDL mode and volume down and boot would be fastboot... I have only a black screen and no vibrations. Only connected to pc it blinks orange,
And the way to boot in EDL mode ist Volume up and start as I know, even Lenovo RSA says the same... hold up Volume up and connect the cable. I have good cable, but sure, I try other Ports and cable.
Which driver shall I install? Qualcomm HS-USB Qloader 9008 from Lenovo I think, right? Cause as connected the driver which is listed is the Diagnostic Driver 900E.

No, I did try the 7.1.1 Rom I found here: http://lenovo-forums.ru/forum/799-lenovo-tab4-a8-plus-proshivki/

Thank you very much for responding

Based on the error message in the tool you do not have a driver issue. You have an issue with not actually being in EDL mode when you think you are, or the PC or tool can not recognize that you are in EDL mode. Either way,  you can't install the ROM. And without fastboot and twrp you can't flash either of those ways either.

Volume up and start is recovery, not EDL mode. Yes, Volume down and start is fastboot. Getting to EDL mode requires using the start, volume up button, and the cable all the perfect time, otherwise you don't actually enter EDL mode. A trick you can try is to power the tablet off, connect the data cable to the tablet. While the tablet is off, only push the volume up button while you connect the cable to the PC. See if the tablet is recognized in device manager as COM. If so, try flashing again with the qualcomm tool or miFlash.

Post a screenshot if it fails.

Exactly what I do all the time... turn off, keep Vol Up and connect the cable... still the 900e Diagnose driver (it is a com port too)... and when I unistall the whole driver, same precedure and other driver, the QLD 9008, I get this:

I think this is the case as seen here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/lenovo-p8-tb-8703f-wifi-how-to-flash-t3720621/page2

Yes, the error in MiFlash is resolved manually by using test points. I can't help you with that. I've never had to do that with this tablet. There's probably a youTube video on it.
