What is BladeModeDetectService and how do I remove it?

2014-06-10, 4:49 AM

There is no indication as to what it is. I can't even disable it. What does it do? The Apps page claims it can modify or delete the contents of my SD card; I don't like programs that can do that when I don't know what they are.

I see Lenovo customer support is busy ignoring requests for documentation.

I'm not sure what exactly it does, but BladeModeDetectService is a system app present on a number of Lenovo's tablets.  As far as I know, it's harmless.

How do you know it's harmless if you don't know what it does? For all I know, it's copying my card over the network to lenovo (it's probably not, but how can you be sure? If it's sending data out, I don't want it charging my data plan, for example.

It doesn't have network permissions, so it can't send anything out over the network.

Can I say it harmless for absolute certain... no.  But it been on Lenovo's tablets for a year or two and no one has reported anything nefarious, and no anti-malware software reports it as malware.  It's only 4KB and has very limited permissions, so I can't see it being able to do much of anything.

I think it is related with sound and visual app (stand mode, tilt mode etc.). Just disable it, mine is already disabled and nothing happened.

Hi,

maybe something about sensors? My problem is, that it needs unbelievable much energy. For example if i play Candy Crush - it is running and needs much more energy than Candy Crush itself (more or less double).

Same here, Blademodedetectservice is using A LOT of battery on A10-70 (A7600-f)

Lenovo, please fix this or give us a way to uninstall this service (it does auto restart when you disable it wihout root... alternatively, how can I root my A10-70)

Firmware: a7600f_a442_000_016_140627_row

I've had the power manager app running for the past few months and it shows 79.3% of battery usage for BladeModeDetectService. What the hell is this?

Is this the media server? I watch a lot of video on my tablet and MX Player Codec itself shows .6% of battery usage.
