Wi-Fi problems

2011-10-18, 23:52 PM

At start up on the K1, I am having intermittent problems with the Wi-Fi connection. When it fails, it takes multiple tries to connect but it will finally do so. My router is a Linksys Wireless-G 2.4Ghz. I have swapped out the router with my spare (same model) and I run into the same problem. When it connects it stays connected. My concern is that I may have a faulty K1? I have called Tech support and they didn't even understand my problem. . But that is a whole other topic. .

Which version is your K1?

Mine ends in 829_US.

829 was to have fixed the wifi issues.

Thanks for the tip on my Wi-Fi problem. I did do the update that matched yours and a successful Wi-Fi connection is more frequent at start up. I can't say the problem has been cured since I have only 'booted' about 15 times so far today. The 'boot' time seems longer on this release but that is a nit compared to the Wi-Fi problem.

The Wi-Fi problem came back with a vengeance. It started last night and has continued through this morning. It just won't connect at start-up or manually the first time. I have this problem without it's carrying case that is fitted for the K1. This happens at a variety of distances from the router.

I noticed that if you have wifi disconnect policy set to turn off wifi when screen turns off then this problem will show up intermittently. One workaround was to keep the wifi always on but that uses up battery....so I downloaded a widget that I can use to turn wifi off/on.

sometimes you can fix the issue but disabling and the reenabling wifi...

good news is that I'm running the 3.2 test build and it does not seem to have this issue.

Re: Wi-Fi problems

My main problem is that Wi-Fi does not connect at 'start up' time.  I have to start wiFi manually via the 'setting' menu. I have to tap/click the start WiFi button and it usually ends with an 'error'. I have to do this MULTIPLE times and then eventually the wifi will connect. Once connected, I can turn wifi 'off and on' repeatedly. It will immediately turn on  (or off) using the settings menu or the suggested toggle.
