Will we someday ice cream sandwich for the A1?

2012-03-10, 22:02 PM
Recently I bought an A1 for a good price, definitely a good tablet in relation to their quality / price.

My question is will we someday officially ice cream sandwich in our A1?
The tablet has a good hardware to run the new version of android but obviously with some limitation when you do not have much RAM or GPU.

I have researched, and some XDA users are already working on a version of ICS or CyanogenMod for A1, but I prefer to hope that we will someday officially.
Lenovo please give ICS, the fact that the A1 is your cheapest tablet does not mean that we will run updates.

1. A thread has already been created on this topic.

2. Lenovo is not officially present on these forums and will not answer these questions.

3. Lenovo has (apparently) recently decided not to push ICS to their K1 customers, so I doubt the A1 would be shown preference.

Sorry...you can always hope, though.

Is it official that the K1 is not getting ICS? I thought it is assumption at this point based on the pulling of the verbiage on the US product page and the word of customer support reps that have no clue to begin with?

I don't think the A1 will get it because the hardware and memory can make it work but it would not be optimal-though there ae similar spec tabs that are running it,just with no skin. I don't think Lenovo would bother considering the lack of supprt on even the more expensive stuff, as it would likely require a rom with no skin to conserve resources.

A1owners will likely have to go custom rom such as CM to run ICS

it's a $200 tablet. D'ya really think Lenovo will be getting their code monkeys (all due respect) to port a version of ICS on tab that's nearly a year old with single core cpu etc... or wait for their next gen model.
