Re: Android 7.1.1 Nougat for ALL tablets
UNACCEPTABLE ANDROID UPDATE SERVICE
Sony - "We will bring the Android 7.0 (Nougat) update to as many devices as possible, as quickly as we can".
Sony has ALREADY rolled out Android 7.0 to 19 of their devices and has officially gone on record promising to roll out the Android 7.1.1 update by March 2017.

When we purchase Lenovo products, the transaction of the purchase is an acknowledgement and confirmation that Lenovo has entered into at least an 18 month obligation to provide consumers with latest Android operating system, otherwise, Lenovo should stop manufacturing Android based devices for which they are incompetent to provide Android updates.
If only Lenovo could promise Android NOUGAT - not just for the revenue generating 'Vibe' and 'Note' flagship devices but for ALL the eligible devices.
If Sony can do it, then so can Lenovo!
1) Provide Android 7.1 Nougat ASAP.
Lenovo must push Android Nougat for all eligible devices with higher priority than revenue generating flagship smartphones and before Lenovo smartphones receive the new update. Lenovo must stop prioritising Android updates for high-end or luxury devices smartphones and instead treat ALL eligible devices with the same level of importance.
Full commissioning of Lenovo's company resources must be allocated to deliver all and future versions of these Android Nougat versions in quick succession:
- (1st OTA update) Android 6.0 Marshmallow
- (2nd OTA update) Android 7.0 Nougat
- (3rd OTA update) Android 7.1 Nougat
- (4th OTA update) Android 7.1.1 Nougat
According to the Lenovo Android update roadmap, it appears that Lenovo now focuses only on it's revenue generating flagship smartphones and many decent tablets have been forgotten about as a result.
Devices with at least 2GB RAM would easily be able to run Android 7.1 Nougat without problems.
Tablets which should be updated:
- Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70L
- Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70F
- Lenovo Tab S8-50F
- Lenovo Tab S8-50L
- Lenovo Tab S8-50LC
- Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro
- Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10 HD+
- Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 10.1
- Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 8.0
- Yoga Tab 3 8
- Yoga Tab 3 10
- Yoga Tab 3 Pro
2) November/December 2016 Android security patch should be provided.
There are much needed security updates/patches which should be pushed to our devices as a matter of urgency to resolve current and future security vulnerabilities.
3) Lenovo must stop the abandoning of Lenovo mobile devices which leave them devoid of Android updates.
Lenovo tablet and smartphone users are dangerously behind with system updates and Lenovo customers demand consistent, thorough and ongoing Android system updates for their devices. Lenovo must work responsibly to provide 'timely' Android updates and ensure that an 18 month Android update support lifecycle at the very least is provided for every device.
We purchase Lenovo products, therefore, we expect our devices to receive regular Android updates as soon as they are released by Google, not one or two years after. Lenovo should put aside the revenue generating Vibe smartphone agenda and stop barring users from receiving the latest Android updates just because they simply didn't buy luxury, high-end or Vibe flagship devices.
4) 64bit version of an Android 7.1 Nougat update for 64bit devices.
Despite having fairly decent 64bit processors, some Lenovo tablets and smartphones are in fact running 32bit versions of Android 4.4 KitKat and Android 5.0 Lollipop.
We have no way of knowing if Lenovo has abandoned our devices without warning. Since we have not been informed on whether or not our devices will be updated, we ask that Lenovo come out and inform us by updating their Android update roadmap / matrix list!
