Just Spoke with Lenovo Concerning Jelly Bean Problem on A2109

2012-12-21, 18:51 PM
After sulking at my desk over my once beloved tablet, I wondered if Lenovo even knows there is a problem with this update! I spoke with a nice gentleman names Alex who said he has not heard of my problem. He said it was due to my making the update while on battery power. I explained to him that I am not a novice and that my tablet was plugged in the entire time. I also shared with him that there is a large number of people with my same problem and then informed him of the posts on Lenovo's forum. He then said he would forward my info to management . I'm on vacation next week and planned to spend mega amounts of time on the sofa with my new tablet.
NOT!! I'm really bummed out over this. So hopefully they will issue a fix.
Maybe if everyone calls and nicely explain our issue, we can have a fix quickly.
He also said the only way to downgrade was to send the tablet back to them. :(

I think she referring to this http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-IdeaTab-Slate-Tablets/A2109-Bug-in-Jelly-Bean/td-p/953639.  The A2109 experiences really bad battery drain after upgrading to Jelly Bean.

To Sheri:

I'm not surprised Lenovo phone support knows nothing.  They generally know little to nothing about Android tablets.  From what I've read, if you get the wrong person, they'll claim the A2109 doesn't even exist.  From reading alot of posts here and elsewhere, if it's not a Windows 7 desktop or laptop, they aren't much help (it doesn't sound like they've even received any training on what's changed in Windows 8).

As for downgrading to ICS you can.  Download this:

A2109_A404_02_04_120821_LV_Weekly_SDcard_722_WW_CF.zip

Put it on your external sd card and install it from recovery (be aware that it will do a factory reset and erase your Internal SD Card as well).

Just my observations, I have not seen any difference in battery usage after the JB update. I can still leave my tablet lay around for days and it has the same basic charge as it did when I left it. Actually, It seems like they fixed a few things with when cpu 3 and 4 are called from sleep that gives it a little more battery life.

It seems like there were quite a few "updates" in a short period.  Didn't one have a future date?

It's weird, if I leave the wifi turned on and leave it sitting, the battery drain is normal.  If I turn off the wifi and leave it sitting, there's significant battery drain.
