Yes there is a lot on the internet on this:

http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/google-android/how-fix-wi-fi-problems-with-android-lollipop-solve-wi-fi-problems-on-nexus-devices-3588450/

www.google.com/search?q=lollipop+wifi+problems

Hard to find someone that does a thorough technical analysis, lots of random "fixes".

This nexus forum has luck with people switching to lower wifi channels:

Update to the problem I reported.   While the Lenovo WiFi isn't the greatest, I found a way around the problem.  I have a dual band router so I installed the WiFi manager app "WiFi Connection Manager" from the Playstore.  So far, when one connection drops it "seamlessly" switches to the other band.  While it doesn't solve the root problem with the Lenovo WiFi - it does make a big difference.

If you properly downgraded to KitKat, still have wireless issues,  and I would follow Tzul's and other's instructions with SpFT, then you must have a hardware problem and should return the tablet to Lenovo for service.

I would also make sure that you delete any apps that you added to make sure they aren't contributing to the issue.

Try changing the WiFi channel setting of your router. Try using 1 or 6 or 11.
