I vouch for you in this .. I have a 730x and is slow **bleep** slow that my mom's Tablet (Chinese) with Lollipop seems like a sonic jet with just 1GB Ram and 16GB internal memory no expandable. Its a Dual Core processor and its super fast
Here we have a 2GB Ram and 16GB internal and I also have a 64GB memory card. I also have 3GB free space (internal) at any given time so it means its the MediaTek processor at 1.0 GHz thats causing this lag.
I have some office work apps and a media player installed and yet it takes minutes to load even a simple worksheet, then after that there is lag while opening apps and then more lag when I want to view Google Photos. The tablet was a waste of money, and with the new Marshmallow update I expected the tablet to become a bit faster if thats not too much I am asking for.

yeah even I have a 2GB Ram tablet, and its critically slow in UI actions and switching between apps. I have done several Factory Resets and also changed launchers but its so ridiculous.
Also note that Lenovo shows this tablet to be a Mediatek Processor clocked at 1.3 GHz however the Tablet itself shows its at 1.0 GHz same with most online stores. Lenovo has seriously not done anything to make this tablet more useable except for giving us an update which are useless

Our tablet doesn't support anything above Android M, thats why no update. Besides its a 1.0 GHz Mediatek Quad core and bringing in a Nougat or Orea will further crash the tablet as its a extremely slow processor not cable of more than Lollipop technical.

To solve the issue of Slow and Laggy Tablet I have changed the Launcher and switched to "U Launcher Lite" I am getting fantastic results from the Tablet now which is now very zippy and doesn't lag one bit.
Ofcourse I have also installed a new 64 GB memory card which may help in the performance however its working same even with a 16GB memory card. But yes the U Launcher Lite has drastically changed the performance of my tablet.
Also note that I have also formatted the tablet (Fastboot method) to factory settings using a different stock ROM from Lenovo but not from Global Roms.
Look around on the internet for this "TB3-730X_S033_160707_ROW"
Thats the ROM I used, to flash to my Tablet and I did get some better performance however it was further improved with the Launcher that I have mentioned above.

Its got nothing to do with the hardware of the device, its the launcher thats causing the lag.
I switched to U Launcher Lite and I am getting a very Zippy performance. Ofcourse I also changed the original rom that came with the Tablet to "TB3-730X_S033_160707_ROW" and I found about 30-40% increase in performance.
After I changed the launcher the Tablet performance jumped to above 95%

Change the launcher and switch to U Launcher Lite (download from Google Play Store) then switch default launcher to this new one.
Now Reboot the Tablet and clear all recents and then check the performance.
My Tablet's performance has clearly improved to over 90%, its clearly visible that there is no lag or slow performance.

I thought that this may help you, my Lenovo TB3-730x recently received an update and now my Tablet runs like any other FAST tablet. I recently received an update TB3-730x_S042_180910_ROW with a August 2018 security patch (that's how I know its a new update).
the download file OTA is around 400MB, after installing it I restarted the Tablet and it took around 30-40 mins to update and voila the tablet runs extremely smooth and silky fast.
Ofcourse I did change the Launcher also to Mi Launcher (check on Google Playstore), however even with the default launcher everything is completely different.
So after installing this new update do the following:
1. Install Mi Launcher as your default launcher
2. Install Memory Booster (Full version) by AIO software technology (even the free version is pretty good).
