Lenovo Tab 4 10 plus Android 8.1 update?

Why Lenovo leaving users on his most expensive tablet without update to Android 8.1. I bought this device because it had Android 7.1 as standard firmware and as it is new device it should be updated to next generation OS. It's surprising and disapointing that cheaper models get update . Shame on you Lenovo . Seems like you don't care about all of you customers but selected one's.

Re: Lenovo Tab 4 10 plus Android 8.1 update?

Like many others, I had assumed that the omission of the Tab4 10 Plus from the Update matrix was an oversight, and we would get the Oreo update at the same time as the 8 Plus, but now the rumour machine suggests that the 10 Plus will not be getting the Oreo update at all. To rub salt in the wound, we had our 5 GHz Wi-fi crippled by the last update to be rolled out, so the flagship Lenovo Android tablet is in fact crippled compared to how it was when it was
first released.

Shame on you Lenovo - I will absolutely NOT be buying or recommending Lenovo for any future purchases unless this issue is rectified promptly. A good place to start would be to actually respond to users here, on your own Community Support forums!

First and last Lenovo device period if this is the case.

If you aren't going to give us the 8.1 Update, at least fix the WIFI bugs you introduced last update!!

Flaky as.

Re: Lenovo Tab 4 10 plus Android 8.1 update?

Couldn't agree more, absolutely ridiculous !!
I bought the top of the range TB-X704v, 4GB/64GB LTE and UNBELIEVABLY STILL ON 2017 SECURITY PATCHES !!
If Lenovo can't be bothered to support their tablets then why should we ?
Definitely last Lenovo product I will buy unless a radical improvement occurs.

And as if to rub salt into the wound, Lenovo reps. don't even bother to have a presence in their own forums to try and assist their customers !!

Re: Lenovo Tab 4 10 plus Android 8.1 update?

I must absolutely agree. I just came across the XDA article, and was completely steamed. How does it make sense that tablets with LOWER SPECS are getting updates to Oreo and not the Tab 4 10 Plus? Which, I should mention, IS STILL BEING SOLD IN THEIR ONLINE STORE. Absolutely disgraceful. I agree that this will be my last Lenovo purchase unless they come to their senses. It's a shame, because it's a fine tablet, but lack of support on the software side will kill any device.

Lenovo, would you please address this in this thread?

Re: Lenovo Tab 4 10 plus Android 8.1 update?

I just got an OTA update - it's still Android 7.1.1 (not Oreo), but it updates the security to October 2018, and it appears that the 5 GHz wi-fi bug might actually have been fixed.

There's nothing in the update notification to clarify what the update addresses, and of course Lenovo have said nothing, but I've been connected to my 5 GHz wi-fi for an hour or so with no issues, streaming video and running speed tests without any problems.

Re: Lenovo Tab 4 10 plus Android 8.1 update?

Interesting. Could you please share the build number for the update that's in Settings -> About? I haven't received any OTA updates yet, and wondering if it could be for a slightly different version based on features or location. Thanks! A security update and wifi fix is quite welcome, but I still hope they'll reconsider and get an Oreo build going.

EDIT: Never mind, I saw you posted it in another thread, and it was for the TF-X704F. The one I have is the TF-X704V. Hopefully my model line is soon to follow!

Re: Lenovo Tab 4 10 plus Android 8.1 update?

Don't hold your breath. Models TF-X704F and TF-X704L have been getting some updates since Dec 2017 (there was 1 in May 2018 and now the lastest one in Nov 2018). But not for model TF-X704V. This model is still stuck with Dec 2017 update and security patches. I believe Lenovo has deserted the model TF-X704V.

That is completely asinine. Why would you update lower spec models, but abandon the most premium model in the line? It's the only Tab 4 10 Plus being sold on their site. Is it because of the differing hardware with the fingerprint scanner and LTE? Honestly, I'm just flummoxed by this. I think I'll hunt down the emails of some Lenovo execs tomorrow and send them a strongly-worded (but polite) letter. Will it do anything? Probably not. But I can at least air my frustrations before writing off Lenovo forever.
