Hello and welcome,
By "faster" do you mean the 5GHz band?
If your tablet is a Tab 4 8 (no plus) it is 2.4GHz only, and won't see 5GHz access points.
The Tab 4 8 Plus is dual band (2.4 and 5GHz)

I've just purchased a TAB 4 8 and am having serious issues connecting to a UniFi AC Lite dual band Access Point. The AP wireless produces 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz signals concurrently. All my other devices (phones, tablets etc) automatically connect to the AP but no matter what I do the TAB 4 will not connect. I even have an ancient Nexus 10 tablet that connects effortlessly to the Unifi AP.
I have the latest update installed on both the AP and the TAB 4. I have read the previous post which all makes sense (yes I realise that I've bought a 2.4Ghz only device - silly me) but why on earth can't a modern Tablet connect to a dual band AP. Makes no sense whatsoever. I have tried everything on both the TAB 4 and the AP to rectify the issue but without any luck whatosever. The only thing I have not done is do a factory reset on the tablet. Question: should I try that?

After the latest update, now i have problem connecting to 5GHz wifi which i could connect seamlessly before. I manually force the device to connect to 2.4GHz and it works normally. I guess here comes another firmware bug with the wifi connection. My advice is to wait for the next update....

Can you please confirm that before the latest update you were managing to connect your TAB 4 8 to 5Ghz wifi? Are you sure you have the TAB4 8 OR do you have the TAB4 8 Plus? If you don' have the Plus model and could connect to 5Ghz that flies in the face of zoltanthegypsy post earlier this year. I'm very keen to know the answer to this question as I have spent countless hours trying to figue out if the standard TAB4 8 can connect to a 5Ghz broadcast.
