I got my Tab 4 8 plus 4/64Gb tablet and was very impressed. Unfortunately, there was a MAJOR show stopper. I worked with Lenovo tech support without much success so had to return it.
The problem was that with each turn on or reboot (not an awakening from sleep) the micro SD card would be corrupted. I tried two brand new cards. A 128Gb and a 32Gb one. The last one I bought as the only suggestion tech support could come up with was to try another card.
I must say that tech support could not be faulted. I was very impressed.
I will wait a while and see if others have this problem or not. I will definitely then buy another one, unless Google brings out an 8 inch tablet in the meantime.

I have the very same issue. It has now ruined my Samsung 128gb ultra card as I cannot do anything with it. Had exactly the same issue as yourself after a re boot.
Lenovo need to withdraw these tablets & refund money paid as they ARE faulty with Lenovo's known SD card reading issues (destroying SD cards is a regular thing with Lenovo tabkets suggesting that either a Lenovo software big is present or they are using poor card reading hardware) - disgraceful

Just had this happen on my Tab 4 8 Plus. Had it a couple of months, but this is the first time I've actually used the SD Card as I'm on holiday and it's got my videos, TV and music on it.
Took the card out and plugged it into my Honor 9, it works perfectly, but plug it back into the tablet and it's still showing corrupted and will only let me format it.
This is a serious fail by Lenovo and needs answering.

Have the same issue with a Tab 4 8 ...standard not the plus.
It does not matter what card I put in ie size, speed or brand or which option I choose ie dedicated to the machine or to transfer files ...the tablet goes through the formatting process and then everytime shows the card as corrupted when viewed under storage.
I pre-tested the cards both on my notebook and note4 before trying on the Tab 4 8 - 2 of the cards are brand new. In all cases I end up with the same error - corrupted

As a consumer, my only option is to let Lenovo know-
By NEVER buying their products again.
It took 3 hours for their tech support to admit that there is no solution.
Their useless tech support dialog should cause Lenovo EMBARRASSMENT.
"Are you sure the card is installed correctly"?
Yes- I formatted it for INTERNAL use, migrated the data, then loaded it with files.
The files dissappeared the next day, upon reboot.
"Are you sure the SD cards are fast enough?"
Well, I bought the fastest card offered, Samsung EVO HD1 / Class 10
Without the SD card memory, 16Gb (I bought the 2Gb/16Gb Tab 4 8 PLUS), there just isn't enough memory for my applications.
Not having that SD card is a game changer.
Without the SD memory, this tablet is USELESS for me.
I'll pay the extra money for a product that offers better tech support-
(as much as I HATE to admit it, I'm going to APPLE).
Screw Lenovos' crappy tech support!
Consumers- vote with your pocketbook- it's the only option left to us!

At this point, I'll NEVER buy another Lenovo again.
I'm fed up with tech support speaking pidgeon english.
Support is useless.
THIS is why Apple charges so much for their products-
Apple has techs that actually SPEAK english,
and understand the product!
But the biggest thing is-
Lenovos' adoption of making their tech support sevices
a circular file of "passing the buck".
I spent much $$ on SIM cards, Tab4 8 PLUS case, SD memory...
I'm out $120 bucks-
even if Lenovo "decides" to refund my money!

The Tab 4 8 PLUS has now ruined (2) Samsung 32Gb cards, and a 16Gb ultra card as I cannot do anything with it.
I used "SD Formatter" software by Tuxera to try a recovery.
Sadly, they are fried. No recovery possible.
I even tried "gParted" on Linux to attempt recover.
Like I said- they're FRIED.
