Re: Tab4 8 Problems with 8.1 Oreo update

It was checked.  Unchecking it then rebooting and checking it again cured it, thanks.

I'm gonna stick with 7.1.1. it works like a charm especially with this controller that I bought for my son for Christmas.  No lag at all even with retroarch.  He loves playing my old console games with this controller.  It works great with a lot of android games as well.

Thanks again.  May try this down the road.

Re: Tab4 8 Problems with 8.1 Oreo update

Lenovo Tab4 8 Oreo 8.1 Downgrade to Nougat 7.1.1

For those that find this thread in search of help, the only things I found slightly diffrent than Wiznoodles instructions were I searched for and downloaded MiFlash 2015.10.28.0 as the link that was provided was to an updated version and I wanted to use exactly what he did.

Also, when selecting the images folder in MiFlash it will not actually list the title of the image file, only the containing folder so don't get confused by this, everything worked flawlessly.

Re: Tab4 8 Problems with 8.1 Oreo update

Yeah, I've been flashing miui devices with miflash for a few years, so my version is older than the link I provided. But the one at the link, 2016 version, is also confirmed to work with our lenovo tablets. Newer versions to 2016 may give issues.

Re: Tab4 8 Problems with 8.1 Oreo update

My Outlook eamail would flash "seems to shut down all the time. ..."  I put it back to factory reset and it cleared.

Now a new problem is I get a "rainbow" screen instead of shutting of the screen.

Re: Tab4 8 Problems with 8.1 Oreo update

Never seen that before. Try clearing the cache for the Lenovo launcher.

Settings / storage / internal / other apps / lenovolauncher. Click on clear cache. Then restart the tablet. Then see if the problem persists.

Re: Tab4 8 Problems with 8.1 Oreo update

Hello,

When I select the Images folder of the firmware in Miflash, it remains empty... :-( Any idea why?

I don't understand anything to QFil, so I try "Lenovo Moto Smart Assistant" which can download and install a version s000042_180906... It seems to be before the Oreo 8.1 update, where can I check?

Maybe easier than MiFlash.

(I have the Tab4 8 plus LTE TB-8704X.)

Re: Tab4 8 Problems with 8.1 Oreo update

Miflash won't be able to find the images if you haven't unzipped the package. Right click on the package and choose unzip. If you created a folder to unzip it too, choose the folder. Miflash also will not be able to find images if your folder name has any spaces in it, so just use a one word title.

The last I heard, smart assistant isn't compatible with our tablet, but if you get it tto work please let us know! If you update to s000042, yes it is right before oreo, the tablet will then update to oreo.

Re: Tab4 8 Problems with 8.1 Oreo update

Jetlink, yes I unzip the file with the password. I have read the thread. ;-)

Wiznoodle, I have notice for the no space folder, I even try to move Images at root: D:\Images\ but no errors, nothing happens.

With Lenovo Assitant, it remains 5 hours of downloading! 2,8GB, I will tell you!

Re: Tab4 8 Problems with 8.1 Oreo update

When you click on refresh does it show the device as COM ?

Go through the motions, show me a screenshot after you click flash.
