Brand new Tab4 8 tablet. I've seen the indicator light (LED?) do at least 3 things - blinking green, steady green and steady red. Not a word anywhere as to what these mean. Why does it sometimes show red when I plug it in, and sometimes show green?
The Lenovo 'overview' page says "on when charging", also checked the quick start and the user's guide and not a word. I find it astounding that this isn't documented somewhere, and that I need to resort to a community forum to find it... ?

I've had it since August, so will stand corrected by anyone who knows better. I just checked the PDFs I found, and you're right - no documentation though shows up as item 4, "Indicator" on a diagram with no explanation. On rough experience: Unplugged, is dark when suspended or screen is locked, green when active. When plugged to charger, red at low charge, green at or near full charge - don't know the trigger points for that. I'd ignore it unless failure to light up when it should indicates the battery is dead.
