Lenovo G510 RAM upgrade
My Lenovo G510 is very slow. System info shows this has 4GB ROM.
How do I know if this can be upgraded? If yes, what DDR type and where to purchase.

Thanks, anyway to know if its DDR3L.or DDR3?
DDR3L. Nikos nailed it.
The specs did not list an 8GB + 4GB combination, so I don't know if that will work.
Up to 16GB DDR3-1600 MHz, 2 SODIMM slots (1 x 2GB / 2 x 2GB / 1 x 4GB / 1 x 2GB + 1 x 4GB / 2 x 4GB / 1 x 8GB / 2 x 8GB)
Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be a definitive PSREF spec sheet on this model.

so-dimm ram DDR3L (low voltage)
https://eu.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/lenovo/lenovo-g510#memory
According to the specs I can find, the G510 has two SODIMM slots and can take up to 16GB total:
Up to 16GB DDR3-1600 MHz, 2 SODIMM slots (1 x 2GB / 2 x 2GB / 1 x 4GB / 1 x 2GB + 1 x 4GB / 2 x 4GB / 1 x 8GB / 2 x 8GB)
I checked Crucial's website and the RAM meeting these specs is end-of-life (it's an old system) but I did find these DIMMs on Amazon. You could also replace the HDD with a SATA SSD, though with such an old system you may meet a point of diminishing returns. (Edited to add: I defer to Nikos about the low-voltage RAM.)

Thanks, Still trying to figure out of its ddr3 or ddr3L without opening and checking.
I am considering adding an 8gb to the empty slot. The first slot is 4gb.Do you think mixing 2 different memories will work?

fill in your serial number and select commodity = memory, all are DDR3L

yes it will work, but not as dual channel.
