45W instead of 65W ?! (is it possible)

i have a Lenovo g50-70 . but my charger is damage and i get a new charger .

the old one was 20V and 65W but the new one is 20V but 45W .

can i use the the new 45W instead the old 65W ?!

Welcome to the Community Forums. 


This would also work as other adapters for the same models were released originally with 45W  similar to this discussion and as offered from the FRU listed (page 67) adapter although 45W would seems to charge slower with same 3-pin AC adapters .

In addition to Spidey101's advice the 45 watt charger will work.  Depending on how you use the laptop you will notice that the 45 watt charger / adapter may take longer to charge the battery as Spidey101 mentioned.  The other thing is if you are a gamer or watch videos you will notice that the 45 watt charger / adapter will feel warmer then the old one.  If you are gaming or video watching for an extended period of time I would make a point of feeling it to see how warm or hot it is getting.
