Are LENOVO Lenovo G50-80 (U3E1) motherboards have changable amd video cards?

Hello,so I just bought a lenovo laptop with these specs:

Intel Core i7 5500U @ 2.40GHz

8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)

LENOVO Lenovo G50-80 (U3E1) motherboard

Generic PnP Monitor (1366x768@60Hz)
Intel HD Graphics 5500 (Lenovo)
2048MB ATI AMD Radeon R5 M330 (Lenovo)

What bother me is the amd card I feel like its a waste of money because I bough this pc for games so do you guys think if it worked with the intel graphics will run must modern games at ultra? If not can you tell me if the motherboard have changable video card? Or I should get the laptop back and get another one cus I downloaded alot of **bleep** before realise how bad this video card Smiley Happy Thx if you readed this and helped me.

Re: Are LENOVO Lenovo G50-80 (U3E1) motherboards have changable amd video cards?

Hi Hussienpotato ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The model is an entry level consumer laptop not designed for heavy gamers although lighter based games are playable as reviews would show

The Lenovo G50 has what you need to manage your day-to-day: store all of your files and multimedia; entertain yourself and others with music and movies; surf the Web; balance your accounts; stay in touch.

"Lenovo's G50-series is designed to handle all the tasks a user might encounter on a daily basis."

Similar to discussions here and here, GPU is not upgradable as it is soldered on the systemboard.

On choosing your preferred machine , it would be best to check similar reviews for specific requirements that you would be using it. Gameplay reviews and benchmarks on graphic card are the first to take note , as gamers community feedback on recommended models and brands would be a big point to consider.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards

Hi Hussienpotato ,

Changing motherboard would be how you can upgrade both CPU and GPU .

You can check on FRU list of OEM systemboard for the model on the hardware manual

Try to verify the GPU chipset it uses if that would be enough for an ultra setting you would like for your gameplay as y-series may offer considering pricing of motherboard than just getting a gaming model all configured as it was initially designed .

Re: Are LENOVO Lenovo G50-80 (U3E1) motherboards have changable amd video cards?

Hi  Hussienpotato ,

Greetings.

Did you manage to physically check the sockets available on your
systemboard as most Intel Core i7 5500U are ball grid socketed?
Socket support : FCBGA1168 .

OEM recommended systemboard for the model listed on
FRU item 5 page 76-79 of the hardware manual.

Best luck on your replacement upgrade .

Regards
