Automatic Repair Advanced Options not working

2020-06-15, 15:15 PM

When I boot my Lenovo G500 (Windows 8.1) I see Scanning and repairing drive (...) 100% complete.

Then Diagnosing your PC.

Then the Automatic Repair Advanced Options menu shows up.

I can click an option and it lights up, but it doesn't do anything.

After that I can't move to another option. I'm forced to disconnect the computer, power on again and I'm back at the beginning.

How do I get out of this loop? Other posts on this forum say to select the Troubleshoot option but I can't.

Thanks

Hi jph1,

Greetings.

If you feel you are stuck on this problem, I would suggest grabbing another known good drive and installing a fresh Windows and drivers instead specially if you have already exhausted most software troubleshooting.

You can have the old drive slaved on another pc or hardrive enclosure to check for its hardware integrity or use a bootable diagnostic USB.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

Hello spidey101, and thanks for answering.

If you feel you are stuck on this problem

It's not a feeling. Am I stuck or am I not?

specially if you have already exhausted most software troubleshooting.

I haven't. My point, precisely, is that I can't access Troubleshoot.

How do I access Troubleshoot to restart in Safe mode and break the loop?

Hi jph1,,

Can you still access safe mode?

Is it still possible to go to advanced option?

If both is a not accessible specially if you do not have a recovery media the that pretty much is stuck.

Try the bootable diagnostics linked above and better yet a known good harddrive if available.

Regards
