B40-80 unexpectedly turning off during POST

I will describe the problem AS IS:

I turn on the computer, and while still posting (5 seconds after pressing the Power ON button), the notebook turns off. However, if I turn it on after doing that, the computer works normally. This just happens every time I turn it on or restart it. I have less than two weeks with this computer, which I bought brand-new at a local store in Costa Rica. I've just updated the BIOS to the latest version available on the support website (A8CN47WW V3.00) and upgraded from W8 to W10. Thank you!

Re: B40-80 unexpectedly turning off during POST

Hi MrLoch ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Have you completely turned it off when you initially use it ?

Would you be able to initially see the Lenovo splash screen?

Was it a complete shutdown after 5 seconds.

At this point we have not checked on how far POST stage that it would keep before turning off.

You can initialy try to turn off fast startup

And likewise set the pc to full performance on power option or turn off hybrid sleep.

Shutdown at start of POST may be failure on the hardwares , running full diagnostics can be useful.

You may call tech support and se if the International Warranty can be covered for your pc .

Try it and update us if there are changes.

Re: B40-80 unexpectedly turning off during POST

Thanks, sir!

Sorry about my pooly made description about my issue. Yes, I was able to see the Lenovo splash screen when the computer turned off. What it worked for me was to turn off fast start up. As of now it seems to work smoothly, and I've restarted and turned off the notebook several times since yesterday and today to check if it fails during POST. In any case, is there a way to have that feature work without that issue again? Many thanks!

Re: B40-80 unexpectedly turning off during POST

Hi MrLoch ,

Great that it's working ok now thru turning off the fast start up .

As we feel as more of a power regulations on resume rather than a POST issue which is a good thing.

As far as Windows update goes, we can not guarantee 100 % since Windows  8/10 are continually being revised at the moment from Microsoft.  But the steps covered on the reply would be a fine to keep things going.

Please feel free to post in our Community at anytime.

Cheers
