Hello, I have the touchpad problem too (B5400)
I wanted to do Harry's method, I'm completely new to disassembling. Did you cut the foil and placed the electrical tape at which side of the touchpad?
do I need to remove the keyboard for that?

You just need to cut the foil, is not need to place the electrical tape.
Download service manual for B5400 http://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/b5400_m5400_hmm_en_20140314.pdf and follow all the steps to remove Keyboard bezel (page 47 from manual).
Is not hard , you need to have a suitable screwdriver and pay attention to the type of screws.

I would double check the cable from the touch pad to the system board just incase it has popped out of the connector.
I did this on mine and had no probems with it since.
Hope it helps.
