I have the same problem on win 7 pro, for many advices here, I have uninstalled the synaptics sowftware and it´s really better, but it´s not 100% reliable, and sometimes it is really annoying. Anyone know if it´s SW or HW problem? Because if I wiil send it to complaint where I bought it, I´ll have to wait about 30 days without ntb :/

Im not too sure if this is a Hardware Software,
Here are what i noticed on the users here,
Might be a software since changing drivers somehow changes something on the way the touchpad works,
Might be a software since Other OS are encountering the same issue.
Can you guys tried this,
Do this first to prevent the system from altering your drivers
http://pureinfotech.com/2010/09/28/how-to-prevent-windows-7-from-automatically-installing-drivers/ (will work on windows 8 and 8.1)
Now open Control Panel / Programs and features / Uninstall a program.
Uninstall all Synaptics software components.
restart the system.
Letme know what how it turned out.

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Removing the driver according to other users in this thread Somehow made the touchpad behave like how it should be.
But couple of Days and it will go back to the same problem.
It might be because your system already has a back up for the driver
"Not altering your driver..,
If Windows found an updated driver then it will install it rightaway

Thx Solid_Cruver you watch on this topic.
My laptop is on service and i must wait to see what they done.
The interesting ideea it was at properties of Synaptics driver in Control Panel, when you want to configure gesture of touchpad he display a grafic touchpad on desktop and when you scroll on laptop touchpad is display where you have the finger and works all the place(on display) but the mouse dosen't move on desktop.
I hope you understand what i want to say.

Today I sent an email to the support of lenovo,
on the contact page have recently added the ability to send an email to the technicians of lenovo.
Then I was called to the phone from Lenovo technicians and they told me that most likely it's a Hardware problem and send the PC in assistence when you can ...!
At least we hope that after the assistence the touchpad will work ....
I will send the computer in assistence about to the July / August, but not before due to work reasons, I will keep you updated ...

As a reseller, I had a customer with this problem.
I think I found a solution, can anyone confirm that this works?
1. Install the offcial Touchpad driver: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS037069
2. Download the newest Sonaptics driver: http://drivers.synaptics.com/Synaptics_v17_0_19_C_XP32_Vista32_Win7-32_XP64_Vista64_Win7-64_Acme_Inc...
3. Unzip the driver
4. Copy and overwrite from the unzipped driver "/WinWDF/x64" to "C:/Program Files/Synaptics/".
5. Open: Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers.
6. double click the "USB Root Hub" > go to Power Management, and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
Let me know if this solves your problems aswell!
PS: Additionaly I also uninstalled the "Lenovo Power Management thingy" but Im not sure if thats relavant to the solution above.

Tried it but sadly it didn't fix anything. This is extremely frustrating, the touchpad has been working just fine for 6 months and now this.
EDIT: Switched from Energy Saver to High Performance. Seems to have helped. I'll report back if it changes. If it keeps playing nice I'll trying switching to Energy Saver again. I also uninstalled the Power Manager. I'll report if that changes anything.
SECOND EDIT: I'm testing if tampering with the advanced power settings does anything. I've deactivated the dynamic activation of USB for both Energy Saver and High Performance. So far the touchpad works just fine on both settings. I'll update.
THIRD: Alright so it's better but it's not gone. Sometimes it still does it albeit much less than before (where it was almost constant).
