BIOS update for Hibernation

2008-09-17, 16:37 PM

I have a Lenovo G410 with me. I installed Windows XP Pro, SP2 myself as I got no OS from the vendor. I performed following checks:

* While chosing to shutdown the notebook pressing Shift key but there was no option to hibernate and standby icon was disabled

* Clicked on control panel --> Performance and Maintenance --> Power Options but could not find an option to enable hibernation

* While booting the notebook, I entered the BIOS setup but could not find any option for power management

* Browsed through the list of drivers for the model (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-68891.html). It says there is nothing available for BIOS.

Does this mean the notebook can not have a hibernation feature at all?

Can it be achieved by some how updating the existing BIOS?

You can enable hibernation in

Rightclick on desktop -> properties ->Screensaver -> Power management -> there you cфn see on one of tabs a checkbox for hibernation. Seems like It is called sleep mode in xp. I have Russina one and can't tell exact meanings to path - have to use my own poor translation, sorry.
