I have been using a Lenovo G50-70 for nearly 6 years now, till yesterday the computer shut down while working with orange light blinking: I removed the battery, and am now running it on direct power, so I guess battery was the issue.
I live in Norway, so am yet to figure out where to get the battery from, but I looked up on the U.S. support website of Lenovo (https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/) to see if my notebook's battery is still stocked (in the U.S.) or not.
The battery type of my model is "G5XXS LG L12L4A02 14.4V32Wh 4cell bty" (part no. 121500176). On that website, it does not show it to be in the stock, but it lists 3 substitutes, for example, G5XXS SY L12S4A02 14.4V 32Wh 4cell bty, part no. 121500174. It says that it is equivalent to the former battery. But the substitutes are also not in stock, it seems.
My question is: Should I search for the original battery type (part no. 121500176) on some reseller's website - is there a reliable one? And if I find a substitute there, could I buy it - will the substitute work fine as well?
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Community Forums!
Yes, you can use the substitute part as it is compatible to work on with your computer. Make sure that the part is listed.
As for our parts sales team, you can reach out to them thru phone at +47 066 99 8700 (Norway).

Apologies. What I mean is that the part is listed under our support website as "substitute" or compatible. You can also check it on the Hardware Maintenance Manual of the computer under page 81 https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_g_z_50_series_hmm.pdf.
