Today I decided to let Windows install a bunch of updates. After installing, I dutifully restarted. On the restart, the screen stays blank. I hear the Windows startup sound, but can't see anything. I tried the onekey recovery button. Power light turns on, but screen stays blank. Any ideas?
ps. This is a G505. Not a G550

Well, I solved the problem myself. I discovered that the HDMI port still worked, even though the laptop screen did not. So I could boot the laptop. Then, I uninstalled all of the Windows updates that were automatically installed on the date that my screen disappeared. Of course, this then led to the camera not working. To fix this, I experimented with installing the windows updates one at a time. The camera came back, and the screen continued to work when I installed the September 2016 Windows update and skipped all the others. This is obviously a Microsoft error.
FYI, I tried using the free automatic update to Windows 10 several time. It failed every time. That is why I am still using Windows 8.1
