Blue screen while installing windows 2008 r2 server

Hi,

I have installed Windows 7 32 bit OS after purchasing Lenovo Essential G510 (59-398343) which has DOS. Now I need another server based OS (dual) and I was trying to install windows server 2008 r2 from bootable CD. But it is not loading , blue screen appears.

I need dual OS ( windows 7 32 bit OS as well as one Server OS.)

Please suggest.

Re: Blue screen while installing windows 2008 r2 server

Hi SDlap,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I’m sorry to hear that your G510 Laptop is displaying BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) error while installing second OS (Operating System). The “SATA Controlled Mode” under “Configuration” tab in BIOS menu should be changed to “Compatible” and press “F10” to save and exit this should resolve the issue.

NOTE: Lenovo does not recommend or support multi boot OS as the computer pre-installed applications and features are programmed to perform on single Windows platform to provide the best performance as per OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer).

Do post us back for further queries.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Re: Blue screen while installing windows 2008 r2 server

Hi SDlap,

Please remove the Windows Server Disc if inserted in the CD/DVD drive and then make the changes in BIOS. Now insert the Disc and then press “F10” or “F12” when the Lenovo Logo appears on the screen and then select the CD/DVD drive this will initiate the installation.

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar
