Re:Can I change the CPU and Graphics card on a B50-70?

Hello lenovoman123,

Greetings.

According to the product specification sheet of B50, the following details for graphics and memory are shown:

Graphics

Some: Intel HD Graphics 5500 only, integrated in processor
Some: Integrated Intel Graphics and AMD Radeon™ R5 M230, 1GB or 2GB memory
Some: Integrated Intel Graphics and AMD Radeon™ R5 M330, 1GB or 2GB memory

Chipset Memory

Intel Soc (System on Chip) platform
16GB max / PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3L, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets

It appears that the memory and the graphics card of this unit is soldered to the main board, hence these cannot be upgraded as it would include the entire system board to replaced instead.

Similar queries are here, here and here.

I hope this answers your query.

Regards.

I don't see the name of the system board on that specification sheet.  Are replacement system boards available as B50 is withdrawn? Which system board do you recommend?

Hi lenovoman123,

You can look for a replacement board from the support page parts look up. These boards are whitelisted and certified OEM. These would be much better as these are compatible to the unit.

On the page, enter your machine's serial number or the complete machine type model / MTM to load up the correct parts. Go to Parts tab > Model / Compatible tab > change Commodity filter to systemboards and check for the results.

Regards.

It was blank, didn't see the system boards drop down, and nothing listed under Compatible tab under model 20384
