2019-04-30, 19:32 PM

I have a Lenovo G50-80 Laptop. The motherboard of that laptop got damaged. So, my question is, Can I upgrade the Processor from i3 to i7? If yes, Then which motherboard will fit in that laptop? And what kind of RAM will be fitted??

Hi ASMallick,

Greetings.

You cannot upgrade the CPU alone (ex. I3-5005U) as this is soldered on the motherboard. Checking with your motherboard PN PN 5B20K62237 MBL G50-80WINI3-5005U(P) UMA from your previous post shows no compatible boards other than the same part number here in parts lookup.

There is no guarantee if fitting and features would be supported getting other boards like those listed in the hardware manual (pages 76-79 item5) that may have I7 CPU.

Max supported ram would be the same on all platforms of the G50 shown as  16GB max / PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3L, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets offered to non N2830 / N3530 models.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Regards
