Cant get Power DVD 10 to work

Hi my PowerDVD 10 is having problems - going so slow it's almost impossible to use (takes 10 mins to load the disk & start playing, & often stops responding when it freezes things up too. It was running fine when i last used it - a couple months ago.

I wondered if i could do an update (not upgrade i havent the money to pay for a paid version), or a reinstall... But i cant seem to find any links to reinstall it, or andeed any other free dvd playing program. 

Can anyone advise me please

I have notebook G505 running windows 8.1. it's 64bit.

CDs play fine in media player, so i cant think it's the drivers. And device mgr  says drivers are up to date & device is workingthanks

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I would not suggest of uninstalling it as I think this is a preloaded marketing free version and upgrade offer probably would fix it but needs purchase. 

You may find other free players that works very well like VLC. It may not appear as visually good user interface but it terms of performance, still is great with multitude of formats. It is free and do not use a lot of computing resources.

Hi Lucozadelass,

I been enjoying my VLC for years with videos and photo with multiple extensions. Just take note during installations of added apps it may offer (usually goes with most free software) that you can decline or uninstall afterwards too.
