Cracked screen

I treated my G50 Touch Laptop very well.  Admittedly, like any laptap, I put it in my backpack and took it with me on trips for several years.  This summer I opened it up and found the screen cracked diagonally down the middle.  It operates fine.  Should I fix it, live with it?  Is there something Lenovo can do?

Re: Cracked screen

Hi petezajonc,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

A cracked screen may not be covered by the basic warranty.

In such events, should have an accidental warranty plan for Lenovo service center to accept it for repairs.

From here, you can check your current warranty status and type.

You can have it repaired with local service center like best buy else you may download the hardware manual for the guides if you have the tools to replace the LCD screen. The part number of the LCD panel/module can be checked here to search pricing and compare it from lenovo encompass or other resellers online.

With the pricing and details, you can decide if LCD replacement is an immediate concern for you specially if the touch screen is still fine.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

Re: Cracked screen

Hi petezajonc

There may be several modes of external force to have damage the screen.

Commonly, someone stepping over the bag or delivering enough force against it specially when there are heavy books not proportionate to the length on the laptop like pushing or bag being dropped.

Here are some basic steps how it can happen and how to avoid it.

Regards
