Re: Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed

If the device has ever been used with any Linux-based systems, especially Ubuntu, this will most likely not fix the issue.

There was a bug in the system sometime last year and many Lenovo (and some Acer) computers were left with this issue.

If this is the case with your device, and the above solution does not work, check the links below.

Re: Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed

Reading all these posts is very distressing. My husband and I bought a Lenovo 530 each a couple of days ago and they are both displaying this error message. Judging by these posts, there is no real and lasting solution. We are taking them back to the retailer tomorrow to try and get refunds. Very sad for us.

Re: Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed

Hi all,

I have the same problem with my Yoga 920.

i didn't see UEFI/ Legacy in the BIOS setup. It's written on the Boot tab only USB Boot [enabled] and USB to LAN Device [disabled]. Also my hard disk is not detected!

Does anyone have any idea?

Re: Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed

If you haven't used a linux-based system on the device, (e.g. if you have only ever used Microsoft Windows) it is most likely that a part of your disk has become physically damaged, in which case it can simply be replaced by your retailer (charges may apply and you will lose all stored data). However if you have used a system such as Ubuntu 17.10 or another linux operating system it is likely the computer's motherboard has been corrupted, meaning the device is now useless, and you should get a technician to move the data from the device onto a new one.

Re: Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed

Why should i put my laptop in legacy when it is supposed to be able to boot with UEFI?

I have lenovo yoga 910..

(I have almost similiar problem but my laptop wont actually turn of unless I force it. When I turn it on it will show the  "Default Boot Device Missing" screen. Then I connect a bootable usb with a windows iso file and it boots normal into windows (not windows recovery/install). From here, when I try to turn of my laptop it will shortly turn off and then turn on again. I suspect a BCD template store error or something..)

And we're back...

Move delayed but still coming
