I have the same problem with brand new G500.  The G500 is unable to find all my networks. Frequent random disconnects.  Running Win 8 with all updates installed.  Need a fix asap or will return.

Re: Does Lenovo G500 have any wifi problems?

OK I hope this helps many here.

Friday 18th 2013, daughters laptop crapped out, went to Fry's electronics ad purchase the Lenovo g500, brought the laptop back to her dorm and proceeded to connect to her ASU internet, all the signal bars showed a strong signal (BUT) said limited connection, and we called the tech suppport at ASU and they tried everything, no luck, we also called Lenovo and they couldn't get it going either (WOW) !!!

Went I this forum and tried the suggsted changes, disable Mcafee, power battery, ETC. and spent all night Friday trying to get this laptop going and no luck.

OK now it's Saturday and called the campuses I.T department, they said there is no reason why you can't connect, even as a guest you should have no problems. No luck so now I so frustrated since the school or Lenovo couldn't getting going so we took it back to exchange it Yesterday (Sunday) the 20th, and the same problem with the ew laptop, so my daughter and I took the laptop to the schools I.T deparment and they tried to get it going, these are I.T. guys, and they couldn't get it going either, they tried a few updates and still no luck. they did their CMD prompt magic and still no luck, showed limited connection, same stuff Lenovo suggested.

Now my daughter is in tears now!. She's a bio medical engineering student and in her third year maintaining a  deans list quota isn't easy and every minute counts, and needs her laptop. Well we did another round of tech support with the school and Lenovo for hours and neither one could get it going (WOW,WOW)

Now dad here is very disappointed, even though I realized it wasn't the schools fault, or the new laptops fault, but I had to come to the realization that Lenovo knows of this problem since there are many posts I found regarding this issue and no fix.

Last effort I called Lenovo one more time and spent an hour with them and still no help (BUT) they told me to call this number (1-877-453-6686) and they could help us get the laptop running (LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL PERHAPS?)

But the light went out quick!, they said if I call that number I would be charged for the tech support, I'm (LIVID) at this point!

Two and a half days of heartache, so I made one last ditch effort before I took the laptop back in the morning for a refund so I installed the latest broadcom update and disabled Mcafee and restarted the computer and instantly my daughter's computer was connected to the internet.

I know what your thinking , why didn't I.T, or Lenovo mention that particular update?, and I did have to use another computer to get the update and transfer it to  zip drive to install

I hope this helps anyone in the future, man that was a brutal experience

Hi Alishirazi & Nuchi,

I’m sorry to hear that Wireless is not working as expected and lagging to detect other networks in your G500 Laptop, please re-install the exact wireless driver should resolve the issue, below is the link to select the country of purchase and then enter the downloads page and install exact wireless drivers accordingly, please click on "Select Product" then in "QUICK PATH" enter the model no. as G500 select the exact model.

Hope this helps!!!

Re: Does Lenovo G500 have any wifi problems?

Hi Sonu,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I’m sorry to inform you that there is no Physical Wireless switch to turn ON the Wi-Fi in the computer, it should be enabled in BIOS under configuration tab. Below is the image of all switches and ports of G500.

Re: Does Lenovo G500 have any wifi problems?

Upon first running my new G500 it initially had intermittent wireless issues.  I immediately realized it was unlikely that it was a software or driver issue.  Opening the service panel (I was going to install a new SSD anyway), the culprit became readily apparent, one of the wire connectors going to the wireless card was not fully seated, in fact it was barely on the pin.  Rebooting the PC the wireless issues were suddenly not so miraculously gone.  Considering it only takes the removal of two screws to gain access to the guts, I highly recommend this as something to check near the beginning of the process of figuring out what is wrong.  Hope this helps anyone out there with a similar issue.

Re: Does Lenovo G500 have any wifi problems?

I have found the issue to this issue.  Please do the following.

Open Control Panel, and click on Programs and features.  Scroll own and find the one that says Lenovo Wireless Drivers.  Uninstall it.  Once you do that the wireless will go from Limited Access to Internent Access.

Don't know why Lenovo has to out something like that on it but I noticed it when we bought about 10 of these.  Every one of those laptops had the same issue.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks,
