Failed Tests from Lenovo Solution Center for Hardware G700

2018-04-19, 13:52 PM

Hello,

After running the Lenovo Solution Center scan on my G700 laptop the following hardware tests failed:

Targeted Read Test
SMART Short Self Test
SMART Drive Self Test

What do these failed test results mean and how do I repair them? My laptop is too old to be covered by a Lenovo warranty. I checked. Thanks.

Hi MWhe865050,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Failing SMART test is indicative of losing hardive drive integrity. It would be expected that it will soon crash so instead of repair, Data backup is the main concern and most likely you would need to replace it soon.

It may work for now but I don't think you would have confidence storing your data in the drive.

Here is the guide for searching and ordering parts.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Thanks much. That's what I was afraid of. Already doing the data backup. So I will look into replacing the hard drive. Appreciate your response. Have a great day! :P
