Re: G 50-80 Frequent Shutdown

Hello Tus4500

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

Is it the unit or the games that are shutting down?

Try to download the Video and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.

Also, try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.

(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Re: G 50-80 Frequent Shutdown

It's the machine (hardware) that shuts down , not game. And i tried static discharging , nothing happened. I contacted Lenovo Service Centre via phone call, they installed several drivers and after that when the problem didnt get away, they told me to restore the windows which caused me severe data loss (you cannot backup everything). I am not getting proper time to take my machine to service point, and i guess they wont be having any solution other than complete formatting. But i have done that already. They are telling that since Lenovo Solution Centre is not getting any hardware problems, it should be software problem. I am stucked. Kindly help.

Thank you. :'(

Re: G 50-80 Frequent Shutdown

I see, in that case, if the support recommended a factory reset, then I would advise that you attempt to do that, as if the issue persists after this reset, then this will indicate a hardware issue with the unit, in which case, it would need to be sent for a repair.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.
