G40-70 - LENOVO SOLUTIONS CENTER SCAN - HARD DISK DRIVE FAILED [G40-70]

Hi,

I did a hard disk drive scan using Lenovo solution center diagnostics tool but ended up in failure. The result was very evident as the system started responding poor and Alt+ctrl+del doesn't work and every action is taking longer than normal time to complete. I still have extended warranty of 58 days left.

I got my laptop in India but imported from Thailand. I am currently residing in Australia. I dialed Australia customer care and they are conveyed that I need to contact Thailand Customer Care for this. Being a global company I didn't expect as I was expecting a quick solution.

Can one of you, please let me know what needs to be done in this regard.

Regards,

Shan.

Re: LENOVO SOLUTIONS CENTER SCAN - HARD DISK DRIVE FAILED [G40-70]

Hi tshanmuganathan ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

To avail of the in warranty coverage , it would be following the advise of Lenovo tech to contact the country as point of sale . Models and parts may not be available and / or not marketed to a particular country so International warranty would not be able to cover a particular laptop.

To explain more about IWS , you may review this article

Terms and conditions , international warranty lookup .

Hope this helps answer your query,

Regards

Re: G40-70 - LENOVO SOLUTIONS CENTER SCAN - HARD DISK DRIVE FAILED [G40-70]

I would suggest backing up your important files (data, docs, photos, music and email) to the cloud or Jump Drive then making your recovery disk set. Once you have this accomplished you can purchase a new disk drive (same specs as the failing drive) from online or store front. Remove failing drive and install new drive, use recovery options with Novo button and disks created to restore Lenovo partitions and Operating System as shipped from factory. After this is accomplished reload personal files from jump drive or cloud source and you are back in business.

Good luck.

I do not work for Lenovo, I only provide suggestions based on my personal willingness to help others. All advice and comments are based on my experience, and do not reflect Lenovo policy, terms or conditions.

Re: G40-70 - LENOVO SOLUTIONS CENTER SCAN - HARD DISK DRIVE FAILED [G40-70]

Hi Thanks a lot for your reply.

Just a Quick question. As you have mentioned "you can purchase a new disk drive (same specs as the failing drive) from online or store front". Do you mean through lenovo support(done at free as I still have my extended warranty support) ?

If Yes, please let me know how can I purchase the HDD online ?

Thanks a bunch,

Shan.
