G40-80 SSD, RAM, & HDD Caddy Upgrade

2019-11-24, 15:37 PM

This post is just to let the readers who are looking for information regarding to the subject.

I've just finished replacing my Lenovo G40-80 stock 500GB HDD, with newly bought "Kingston A400 480GB" SSD. I clone/migrate the OS (Windows 10) with "MiniTool Partition Wizard". Switch on the laptop and the boot is super fast!

Later I wipe the OS partition of the HDD & put it into the DVD-ROM slot using a "9.5mm Second HDD Caddy". Switch on the laptop and now I got extra storage!

Last but not least, I install additional memory RAM of Kingston KVR16LS11/8 DDR3L 8GB to compliment the stock 4GB RAM. Now I got a comfortable 12GB of RAM!

That's all I want to share, hope it will help those who plan to upgrade or having some issue midway. Cheers!

hi will. i got the same thing in mind when I'm buying the caddy since someone posted that their caddy didn't work either. so I just bought it from physical store & in case it didn't work I'll just return it back. i didn't do any setting on it. what i think is, if everything installed fine, maybe your caddy is faulty. you could try with another caddy. cheers

well then you can try using the caddy with smaller capacity HDD if u have any (mine is 500GB). if it still doesn't work then probably the problem is with the caddy.
